What is the Religion Curriculum Mapping?

Based on the Religion Curriculum Guidelines of the Diocese this is a tool to present the content to be taught in Religion classes at each grade level.  In this way, it offers parents a very concrete tool, assisting them with ideas on what and how to reinforce religion classes at home, and in this way become actively involved in the faith formation of their children.

How is it divided?

Every grade level is divided into the four pillars of the Catechism:

    I Curriculum Pillar:
    Profession of the faith

    - Sacred Scripture
    - Creed

    II Curriculum Pillar:
The Celebration of the Christian Mystery
    - Worship and Sacraments

    III Curriculum Pillar:
    Life in Christ
    - Community & Service
    - Christian Morality

    IV Curriculum Pillar:
    Christian Prayer

    - Prayer and Spirituality

THERE ARE TWO LEVELS OF FAMILY INVOLVEMENT

1.- GENERAL INVOLVEMENT

Here you will find ideas for general involvement for each one of the content pillars.
            For example:

For Sacred Scripture, some ideas would be: to have a Bible in your house, to read the Gospel together before going to Mass….

For Worship & Sacraments, one suggestion would be: to go with your child to Mass, to teach your child Christmas songs…

For Christian Morality a suggestion would be to have a family movie time and discuss the movie in a critical spirit, according to the values of the Gospel

2.- SPECIFIC INVOLVEMENT

These are specific ideas for each content that the child learns in their religion classes.

For example if in grade 6 one of the contents is:
Research the contribution of Christian art and music to the Church and the world.

A specific family involvement could be:
As a family, to visit a religious exhibit in a museum or Church.
